STEP2: Medium and format

In Step 2 of wizard, you can select your
desired medium and then a proper format for the selected medium.

What's medium? Medium is the target
media. Medium can be Video DVD, Video CD, Portable CD,
Cell-phone, Web, Print Media, etc.

What's format?
After selecting desired medium, a format needs to be
selected for that medium.
Each medium has its own standard formats.
As an example while 3GP format is proper for cell-phone, it can
not be used in a Video-CD which uses Mpeg1 format.

What happens when I let CGtemplates choose
the best format for me at step2 ?
CGtemplates charges you the specified amount that is written
in the wizard for having a CGtemplates expert selecting the best
format that suit your needs.
When the money is received, CGtemplates contacts you asking to
provide CGtemplates with information of your template usage,
etc. Based on these information an expert selects the best
format for you. When the chosen format is confirmed by you,
you'll be given a link to pay for your order and production
phase begins.

How the price is defined?
The price considerably varies among mediums.
Generally what defines the price is the resolution.

What's resolution?
resolution is movie width and height in pixels.

What if I need several mediums and formats?
You can order an additional format later at step 6 for the
same medium.
However after an order is placed, in a period of one month of
purchase date, additional Mediums, Formats of the same
template-clip can be ordered with a discount of
up to %75.

Can I order a format that is not in wizard?
Sure, Cgtemplates encoding software packages support most of the
world popular formats.
There is an exception that we do not provide uncompressed files
online.
Uncompressed files will be posted on CD or DVD.

Tips in selecting formats:
Video DVD medium:
The difference between DVD-Video and MPEG2 formats
comes from DVD files limitations and specifications. Every DVD-Video
motion file is MPEG2 but not every MPEG2 is proper to be used in
DVD.
Later when your files are ready you can choose to receive elementary
video, audio files or multiplexed ones.
If you’re ordering a DVD-Menu, you’ll be received menu files in
Adobe Photoshop & Encore DVD formats.
Still Image: Still Image is an image file proper to be used in
DVD as menu background or in the movie itself as still image. (It's
not animated.)
Video CD medium:
MPEG1 file: Mpeg1 file is proper to be used
in making a Video-CD.
Still Image: Still image is an image file or a 5 second Mpeg1
file of the still image which can be used in a Video-CD opening,
etc. (It's not animated.)
Portable CD medium:
Flash: Flash format is the recommended one
since it can be played as standalone file needless to any other
player to be installed before. You can receive your final file
either in FLV, SWF or EXE files.
QuickTime: QuickTime player is installed on all Macs and is
popular among pc users too. The quality/file size ratio is be better
than Flash.
Windows Media: Considering Windows Media quality/file size
ratio which is higher than QuickTime and its popularity, it is a
recommended one too.
DivX: DivX format is not recommended. Although The
quality/file size ratio is better than others, many users have
problems in playing DivX files.
Real: no comment.
Still Image: Still image is one image file which can be used
as background, etc.
(It's not animated.)
Cell phone (mobile) medium
Screensaver: Screen savers are in animated
gif format. You can receive two files for flip-open and flip-close
modes of your cell phone.
Still Image: Still image is an image which can be used as
cell-phone background image.
Cell phones with Symbian Operating
System:
3GP & MP4 are movie formats (animated). Choosing
between 3GP and MP4 does not make much difference. Most of the
cell-phones work with both formats. If ordered format doesn’t work
on your cell-phone, you can request to receive your order in the
other format for free.
Cell phones with Windows Operating
System:
Windows Media: Windows media is the recommended movie
format for cell-phones with Windows Operating system.
When your order is placed, you can request up to 4 different
resolutions for cell-phones to be sent to you with no additional
cost.
Web medium
Flash: Flash format is the recommended one
since Flash Player plug-in is installed on more than 95% of PCs
connected to internet and you can have custom look-shape player to
play your movie. You can receive your final file either in FLV or
SWF. You’ll also be provided with several custom look-shape players
for free.
QuickTime: QuickTime player is installed on all Macs and is
popular among pc users too. The quality/file size ratio is better
than Flash.

recommended one too.

Resolution:
resolution is movie width and height in pixels.
There are several predefined popular resolutions in the combo box to
be chosen from. You can define yours by selecting “Custom size”.
The Background price is defined based on the size of your choice.
Please note that as resolution increases, file size is also
increased which must be taken into consideration for web target
audience.

Print Media Medium
TIFF image format is strongly recommended for print
purposes. If you are on low-speed internet connections, then JPG
format can be a good choice too since the files size is much less
than TIFF.
